There is the rapid weight loss, and then there is the rapid weight loss. Confused? They may appear to be the same thing but, are infact, two very different scenarios. Rapid weight loss can be the outcome of either intentional or unintentional weight loss. Intentional weight-loss can be the result of crash-diets, eating disorders, as in the case of anorexia, or perhaps the effect of a weight-loss pill. Some people, who are obsessed with dieting, can lose weight abnormally faster simply by starving themselves, sometimes while on the weight-loss pill. This of course can have harmful effects on the person’s health. But this is generally the consequence of the person’s own will to lose weight. Sometimes one can lose weight without even asking for it. This unintentional, rapid weight loss can happen for a number of reasons, such as digestive disorders, dysfunctions of the thyroid gland, cancer or diabetes. These unwanted diseases could make a person lose weight very quickly. Occasionally, medications, such as anti-depressants, can also cause rapid weight loss. But there is nothing to be happy about losing weight through these occurrences. When such instances occur, it is important to seek medical help, since these can be extremely detrimental to your health. So, rapid weight loss is really not the same as rapid weight loss. If it is intentional, good for you, but if not, then it is time to consult your doctor.
