What Type of Foods Can Be Eaten When Dieting?

In pursuit of weight loss, many people often skip essential foods that not only provide them with nutritional benefits but also aid in the weight loss mechanism. Perhaps they skip these foods because they believe they contain a lot of calories. Or maybe they are not aware of the “weight-losing” properties of these foods. Whatever the reasons, dieters should never drop the following type of foods from their menus:

1. Proteins: Proteins provide our bodies with the nitrogen that is needed for muscle growth and repair. Also, proteins are low in calories if compared to fat and carbohydrates. Therefore, they should be a part of every meal.

2. Fiber: By eating a lot of fibrous foods, such as fresh vegetables, fruits, beans, brown rice, lentils and oatmeal, we can satisfy our hunger while taking in just a small amount of calories. These foods also prevent constipation and indigestion, and lower out cholesterol levels.

3. Thermogenic Foods: Foods, such as celery, zucchini, green beans, mushroom and broccoli, are hard to digest; they take up a lot of energy when they break down. This means that by eating these we can stay full without gaining a lot of calories.

Finally, drinking water is important for ensuring a successful diet. Ideally, a dieter must drink 8 to 10 glasses of water every day.
